Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) has historically been ambitious about achieving its delivery goals and that remains the same for 2020 with its target for 500,000 deliveries.
The electric vehicle manufacturer has previously struggled to hit its production targets but the company has been ramping up its production to overcome such challenges. Tesla’s target deliveries for 2020 was 500,000 electric vehicles and now that the year is ending, it should not be long until the official figures are out. However, analysts are convinced that the company will hit the 500k target.
The EV maker has not disclosed its Q4 deliveries target but judging by the production figures from previous three quarters in 2020, the company might need to achieve roughly 181,000 to meet the 2020 target. Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk previously sent an internal email to his employees stating that the deliveries target for the year is attainable. The email which was obtained by Electrek was sent a week ago but it did not go into details.
Will Tesla really achieve its 2020 deliveries target?
The company has maintained a tight seal around its deliveries information. However, anonymous source revealed that Tesla is roughly 1,000 deliveries away from achieving its deliveries target for North America. It is too close to call with just one day remaining in the year but it is achievable nonetheless. Especially if other global deliveries figures are taken into account.
North America is Tesla’s biggest market but other markets such as Europe and Asia have also been gaining traction and yielding attractive sales figures. The 500K deliveries figure is quite significant for Tesla. Elon Musk stated in 2015 that his company’s goal would be to reach 500,000 in annual deliveries by 2020. It would thus be a significant milestone if the company were to achieve the target or even come extremely close to it.
Tesla might have even surpassed its target by far if it were not for the coronavirus pandemic which has affected many industries across the world and also had a negative impact on sales. Even if the company does not manage to hit the target, coming close to it still represents an important milestone for Tesla and also for its investors because it highlights the impressive production capacity and growing demand.
