Aurora Cannabis Inc (NYSE:ACB) is preparing to announce its financial results for the third quarter of 2020 and analysts already have a positive outlook about the company's quarterly performance.
There are numerous reasons why there are high expectations for the company's Q3 2020 performance. The company and the entire industry at large are recovering from disrupted operations due to the coronavirus. However, the restrictions have since then been removed and business operations started resuming in the second half of 2018.
The outcome of the recently concluded U.S elections also seems to be in favor of the cannabis industry because Joe Biden promised to implement banking reforms that might favor the industry. Such a move would allow the cannabis industry to grow at a faster rate once they are able to do business smoother with banks on their side.
What to expect from the upcoming Q3 financial report
The cannabis industry is still recovering from the economic downturn and disrupted business caused by the coronavirus. Aurora cannabis reported $66.6 million in net revenue in Q2 2020 which was a notable decline from the $70.8 million net revenue that the company reported in Q1 2020.
Analysts are optimistic about the company's financials for the third quarter and this is something that Aurora Cannabis has also hinted at. The company raised its revenue expectation or revenue guidance for the quarter from $60 million to $64 million. Although the expected revenue figure is lower than the revenue that the company reported in the first quarter. However, the company's decision to adjust the revenue by a higher figure was seen by investors as a good indicator of the actual Q3 financial figures that the company will reveal in the upcoming investor call.
Aurora Cannabis also revealed that its revenue expectation is still lower than the Q1 revenue figure due to the sale of its non-core business operations. The company expects the sale to affect its net revenues. Despite the divestitures, Aurora Cannabis still expects to retain strong business prospects that will allow it to enjoy better performance moving forward. The industry recovery and growth should also contribute significantly to better performance figures in the future.
