Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is already a strong player in the various segments, such as e-commerce and cloud segment. However, the competition means that Amazon has to continue offering more appealing services to maintain its user base and attract new customers.
Amazon has been busy working on new offerings that it showcased this week. They include Ring-branded devices that are designed to be used inside homes and vehicles. They include a new dash cam called Ring Car Cam, which the company claims to be compatible with 99% of all the vehicles in the market. It also debuted its Ring Always Home Cam, a small drone that can fly from room to room to provide home surveillance. The ring-branded devices' launch also featured a mailbox sensor that will notify users when they receive mail.
Amazon unveils new service called Amazon Luna Cloud Gaming
The shift towards online services has also seen a growing interest in the cloud gaming segment, and it seems Amazon believes that online gaming will be a key growth area. The company just rolled out a new service called Amazon Luna Cloud Gaming. The service will allow anyone with an Amazon device such as a Fire Stick. However, the online gaming service will not be limited to those devices. It will also be available on Mac and PC.
Amazon already has a web app that ensures that the Amazon Luna Cloud gaming service is not limited to the iOS app ecosystem but can be accessed through other operating systems. The company is already working with developers and publishers to facilitate the diversity of game titles on the platform.
The launch of Amazon Luna Cloud Gaming means that Amazon is taking the fight directly to Google Stadia and Xbox Games Pass Ultimate. However, the competition seems to be limiting themselves to their platforms, which means that Amazon has a bigger chance at winning the race for cloud gaming since its offering will be available on multiple platforms. The company is optimistic about the move, and it hopes to tap into the growth opportunities especially through the mobile market.
