NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) recently released the third quarter of its fiscal year 2021 revealing strong demand from its gaming segment which delivered a record $2.27 billion in revenue during the quarterly period.
The quarterly announcement comes as great news for the company because it indicates strong demand for the company’s GeForce RTX GPU lineup which rolled out in 2020. It was a critical year for the company’s performance considering that it was the same year that the new powerful gaming consoles were rolled out. Fortunately, the recent quarterly report validates the GeForce RTX’s impressive lineup and the company’s strong market share despite the growing competition.
The RTX lineup introduced ray tracing as a new gaming standard that lets gamers experience gaming with impressive visuals. NVidia also announced that its data center business also contributed a significant amount of revenue during the quarter at $1.90 billion.
“The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU provides our largest-ever generational leap and demand is overwhelming,” stated NVidia CEO, Jensen Huang.
What does the future hold for NVidia?
The gaming segment’s impressive revenue figures in 3QFY21 is a strong indicator of heavy demand for the company’s GPU offerings especially for hardcore gamers. GPU maker expects to continue leading the charge while maintaining a strong market share in the gaming industry for future growth. Meanwhile, the data business also looks highly promising as far as future growth is concerned.
NVidia revealed that its A100 AI offering has been experiencing heavy demand from leading cloud services providers across the globe. The demand is expected to increase in the next few years and AI becomes deeply integrated into more devices and services.
NVidia’s acquisition of ARM is expected to bolster the company’s revenue in the future especially in the AI segment. The acquisition will open up many other revenue opportunities for the company. NVidia expects its revenue for the next quarter to be within the $4.80 billion ballpark. The strong revenue expectation might be fulfilled through the robust mix of revenues from the gaming, data center and also ARM activities.
